Lymphatic drainage massage in Larnaca

A gentle manual technique that clears fluid stagnation: swelling, heavy legs and puffiness go.

  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Larnaca, Cyprus

Lymphatic drainage is the gentlest form of massage there is. Nothing is kneaded and nothing is pressed hard: the lymphatic vessels sit directly under the skin, and moving stagnant fluid takes a very light, rhythmic, directed touch. Strong pressure simply closes those vessels and makes things worse.

In Cyprus the demand for this is its own story. Heat, hours on your feet, flights, air conditioning and desk work leave legs swollen by evening even in perfectly healthy people. Lymphatic drainage gives them back their lightness in a single session, and a course breaks the body's habit of holding fluid.

Who it is for

  • Swelling and heaviness in the legs by evening, sock marks on the skin
  • A puffy face and eyelids in the morning
  • The state you are in after a long flight or drive
  • Work spent standing, or the whole day at a desk
  • Preparing the tissue before a course of anti-cellulite massage
  • Recovery after surgery — only with your doctor's clearance

How a session goes

  1. 1

    Assessment

I look at where the stagnation sits and always ask about your heart, kidneys, veins and thyroid — that decides whether we can work at all.

  2. 2

    Opening the drainage routes

We start not at the swelling but at the lymph nodes above it. Without clearing the route first, the fluid has nowhere to go.

  3. 3

    Drainage

Slow, wave-like movements along the lymphatic pathways, from below upwards. The pressure stays light — that is the whole point.

  4. 4

    What to do at home

Hydration, leg position, simple movements — without them the effect fades faster.

Result

  • Legs feel lighter by the end of the session
  • Evening swelling and elastic marks disappear
  • The face looks fresher, puffiness settles
  • Skin becomes smoother — clearly visible over a course

Questions and answers

Does it hurt?

No, and it should not. Lymphatic drainage is the softest technique there is: the pressure is comparable to stroking. If a massage left you with bruises or soreness, it was not lymphatic drainage.

How many sessions do I need?

A single session works well for the state after a flight or a hard day. To stop the body holding fluid permanently, a course of 8–10 sessions two or three times a week is needed.

Is it safe with varicose veins?

With early signs — usually yes, and drainage can even help, because it takes load off the veins. But with pronounced varicose veins, thrombophlebitis or a past thrombosis you need a vascular specialist's opinion first. This is not a situation worth risking.

Are there contraindications?

Yes, and they are more serious than for ordinary massage: heart and kidney failure, thrombosis and thrombophlebitis, acute infection and fever, active cancer, uncontrolled thyroid disease. Lymphatic drainage increases fluid movement through the body, so in these conditions it is contraindicated. Please tell me about your diagnoses before the session.

Will it help me lose weight?

Excess fluid leaves, so measurements and weight after a course really do drop, sometimes noticeably. But that is not fat, and saying so honestly matters more than selling a course.
