A blog about the body, pain and movement

The things people ask me most often during a session, written down.

What I write about here

Over thirty years of practice the questions repeat. "Why does it hurt when the scan is clean", "what do I do about my neck at the computer", "will massage help with a herniated disc" — I answer these several times a week. It makes more sense to write the answer down once, properly, than to rush through it between sessions.

You will not find "ten exercises for a healthy back" here without explanation. What matters to me is that you understand the mechanics: why the body behaves the way it does, and what follows from that for you specifically. Understanding lasts longer than a list of exercises.

One important caveat

Everything written here is general information, not a prescription. I cannot see your body through a screen and cannot know what is happening in it. An article can help you understand the question and ask your doctor better ones, but it does not replace an examination.

If reading made things clearer but not easier — come in, and we will work it out by hand.
