Sound familiar?
- You cannot lift your arm above shoulder height, putting on a jacket hurts
- Shoulder pain at night, impossible to lie on that side
- Knee pain going down stairs
- Clicking and a feeling of instability in the joint
- Pain that appears after load rather than during it
Why it happens
The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body, which is exactly why it depends on muscles more than any other. If the shoulder blade does not move as it should, the head of the humerus starts to jam with every arm raise. Hence the inflammation, hence the night pain.
The knee follows the same logic one floor down: it pays the price for glutes that do not fire and for a foot that has lost its support. Working only on the joint itself means fighting the consequence.
How we work with it
-
1
Finding the cause
We test the chain: for the shoulder, the scapula and thoracic spine; for the knee, the pelvis, hip and foot.
-
2
Unloading
Massage of the overloaded muscles around the joint and trigger point work.
-
3
Restoring movement
Kinesiotherapy: a correct movement pattern instead of compensation.
-
4
Load
A gradual return to sport and normal activity without relapse.
Questions and answers
I have a frozen shoulder — can you help?
Work is possible with adhesive capsulitis, but it is long and requires patience: the condition moves through stages. Massage and movement help reduce pain and keep as much mobility as possible, while the pace is set by the phase itself.
Knee pain — do I need an MRI?
With an injury involving swelling, locking or instability, see a doctor. For overload pain with no trauma, a good examination and muscle work are often enough.
Can I keep training?
Usually yes, but with modified load. Stopping completely is more often harmful: the joint loses nourishment and the muscles weaken faster.
